Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-14
These terms govern your use of Bytecode Ledger (the “app”), operated by Bytecode Technologies Ltd. (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the app you agree to them.
1. The service
Bytecode Ledger is a personal-finance application that lets you record transactions, import bank statement PDFs, create invoices, and manage related data. The app is intended for individual self-employed users; it is not a substitute for professional accounting, legal, or tax advice.
2. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
- You must provide an accurate email address you control.
- You may not use the app for unlawful activity, to impersonate others, or to interfere with the service for other users.
3. Your content
Transactions, invoices, statements, PDFs, and any other data you enter or upload remain yours. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content solely to operate the app for you (for example: running the PDF parser, computing balances, generating invoice PDFs).
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload PDFs or data containing other people's financial information without authorization
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service
- Use the service to send spam, phishing, or malicious content (especially via invoice emails)
5. Pricing and changes
The current version of Bytecode Ledger is provided free. We may introduce paid plans in the future; if we do, you will be given clear notice before any charge takes effect, and existing functionality available to your account at that time will remain available for a reasonable transition period.
6. Availability
We aim for the service to be available continuously but make no uptime guarantee. Maintenance, hosting provider issues, or other events may cause temporary unavailability.
7. Termination
You can delete your account at any time per the steps in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or are used for abusive activity.
8. Disclaimer and liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no warranty that it will be error-free or that the PDF parser will be 100% accurate; you remain responsible for verifying your records. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of these terms or the service is limited to fees paid by you to us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which is zero for free use).
9. Changes to the terms
Material updates will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the Province of Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
